Hello. I thought since I spent so much time creating the games at Just Solitaire, perhaps I should blog about it. I can talk about the site, and solitaire games in general.
I've always liked solitaire games. I made my first back in 1996. After building a few, I decided to dedicate a whole site to them, with a common code base and graphics set. I built it in Shockwave, which was the best way to do it at the time.
For yearsI have thought about re-engineering the site in Flash. I moved from being a well-known Shockwave expert to being a well-known Flash expert. So it seemed natural. Plus, Flash took over the Web, displacing Shockwave as the main way games are embedded into Web pages.
But I procrastinated. And I'm glad I did. Following the popularity of the iPhone, and the release of the iPad, Flash has lost some of its luster. So it made sense to skip Flash and move right on to HTML5. Well, HTML5 is the buzzword, but in reality it is JavaScript.
