So how does the game decide what to do when you double click on a card? Well, it looks at all of the available foundations, tableau piles and other stack types on the screen and finds the first one that will accept the card that have been double clicked.
Now it has to do that in some order. So it works in the order in which the piles are created when the game starts. This usually means that foundation piles are first.
I just changed, by request, the order in which this works for Eight Off. It used to look at the free cells first, and then the tableau. But one player reported that it would make more sense to look at the tableau first.
